As a child hospital visits can be a daunting time. We were approached by RD&E Trust to create an interactive beach themed space, to provide pre-teen patients with a positive and playful experience during their hospital visit.

The design at the heart aims to submerge the young patients and their parents into a whimsical world at the beach with bespoke wall graphics featuring characterful animals and children enjoying the sandy beaches and blue skies. Children can enjoy playing under bespoke joinery palm trees, flying birds overhead, bespoke parasols and feature sky scene lights above. At the centre of the space are three brightly coloured bespoke beach huts to explore, each containing a different activity for children to enjoy during their wait; an interactive games table, a cosy book library and a play kitchen to encourage imaginative play. For the parents there are benches to mimic the look of hammocks, so that they could hopefully lose themselves for a moment within the space too.
