We’ve come a long way since the studio was founded and learnt a lot about ourselves, our clients and partners. Meet The Team

Kay Hanson

Interior Design Director

  • Designer | Lecturer | Podcast co-host | Home critic.

    After graduating with a First Class honours degree in Interior Design, Kay spent the earlier years of her career working and enjoying her time with several well-known large architectural practices and smaller interior design studios before founding Studio KHid.

    “With 20+ years industry experience, I was keen to forge my own identity to use design as a tool to enhance the lives of the people who inhabit our spaces. My passion lies within the projects that really can make a difference for the people we design for“.

    When not designing Kay co-hosts the Multi Story Thinking Podcast, Lectures on the Interior Design degree course at the University of Plymouth and has the privilege of visiting some of the South West’s most beautiful holiday homes as a home critic.

    Raised in Yorkshire, Kay was drawn to the South West almost a decade ago and considers herself extremely lucky to be able to enjoy exploring the Cornish landscape (usually with her dog by her side) and swimming the often chilly waters around Devon.

Sophie Elkin

Interior Designer & Stylist

  • Designer | Stylist

    Sophie is a real people person who holds a strong passion in designing and styling interiors. Qualifying with a First Class honours degree in Interior Design, Decoration and Styling she has explored an interest for residential, commercial interiors, in particular healthcare and educational spaces.

    Sophie joined the Studio KHid in the summer and is already providing valuable design skills to projects by designing individual and personable spaces. Her ability to tailor design to the unique aesthetic requirements of each client is largely a result of her attention to detail.

    Born and raised in Cornwall, Sophie enjoys her time off spent walking with friends across Cornish beaches. She also enjoys flicking through lifestyle magazines whilst she enjoys a big cup of hot chocolate, (and of coarse cream and marshmallows).

Stephen Tozer

Interior Designer

  • Designer | Lecturer

    Stephen graduated from Falmouth University after winning the prestigious SBID prize for Interior Design. Stephen’s extensive career in customer marketing was excellent grounding for user focused interior design which he applies through ensuring the clients and their end users have effective, enjoyable and memorable experiences.

    When he’s not exploring Cornwall’s picturesque beaches with his family and Bailey (the dog), or perusing National Trust properties, he’s trying a bit of DIY or hunting down the best Cornish coffee spots.

Alice Nightingale

Interior & Graphic Designer

  • Interior and Graphic Designer | Stylist

    Alice studied art and design at Truro College before moving on to interior design at Falmouth University. With a background in art & design, Alice has worked on a wide range of creative projects including photography, event marketing, and branding design. She’s an invaluable addition to our team creating captivating visualisations and delivering imaginative graphical installations to accompany our interior design projects.

    She is a winner of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce's 30 Under 30, 2024 and has a passion for sustainable design inspired by her love of the natural world. When she’s not indulging her design head, Alice enjoys kayaking, gardening, and DIY.
